College Council Chairperson Welcome Message

Dr. TN Ramasehla
Council Chairperson

We are thrilled to share with you the establishment of the new College Council at Gert Sibande TVET College. As the newly appointed College Council, we are honoured to lead this esteemed institution and work collaboratively with each of you to drive positive change and progress. Our role as a College Council remains that of oversight and good governance as mandated in the CET Act 16 of 2006, as amended.

Gert Sibande TVET College stands as a pillar of vocational education and training, and our commitment to providing high-quality education aligned with the National Development Plan – 2030 remains steadfast. Our focus on equipping young people with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in their chosen fields is at the core of everything we do. We intend to continue providing current occupational skills, and to align with the needs of the industry, as well as the entrepreneurial opportunities available in our district.

The College Council is dedicated to fostering an environment of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity where all members of our community can thrive while tackling the tripartite challenges of unemployment, poverty, and inequality. We are committed to nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, where creativity, innovation, and practical skills are cultivated to empower our students to excel in their careers and contribute meaningfully to society.

As we embark on this new chapter together, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. With the unwavering dedication, passion, and expertise of our College staff, we are confident that we will achieve great things and further elevate the reputation and impact of Gert Sibande TVET College for the next 5 years.

Our key deliverables as a College council for the next 5 years include, amongst others:

  • Academic excellence through occupational skills development and training
  • Financial prudence by maintaining or even improving our audit outcomes
  • Strengthening industry and other stakeholder partnerships
  • Student job placement in various sectors
  • Increase Staff morale and motivation through reskilling and industry exposure

We look forward to working closely with each of you to harness our collective strengths, address challenges, and seize opportunities for growth and development. Your input, ideas, and engagement are essential as we shape the future of our institution and make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and the communities we serve.
