Dear Esteemed Staff and Colleagues,
On behalf of Gert Sibande TVET College, I extend a warm welcome to all of you. As the Acting Principal, I am thrilled to have you here as part of our vibrant educational community.
At Gert Sibande TVET College, we are dedicated to providing high-quality vocational education and occupational training that empowers our students to thrive in an ever-evolving job market. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our diverse programmes, experienced staff, and a supportive learning environment.
We believe that education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about fostering skills that enable our students to contribute meaningfully to society. We are proud to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure our courses and programme offerings remain relevant and aligned with industry needs.

In the Gert Sibande Region of the land where the sun rises, Mpumalanga, lies six TVET Campuses in the beautiful towns of Ermelo, Evander, Standerton, Mpuluzi, Perdekop and Balfour. The technical colleges of Ermelo, Evander and Standerton were merged to form the Gert Sibande College in 2002; the Sibanesetfu (Siswati for our light) Campus in Mpuluzi was opened in 2005; the Balfour Campus in 2014 and the Perdekop Campus in 2016.
Gert Sibande TVET College was named after a farm workers’ leader in the Eastern Transvaal, African National Congress activist and one of the first-string accused in the Treason Trial of 1956 to 1961. The son of a tenant farmer, Gert Sibande was born in the Ermelo district in 1902.
Gert Sibande TVET College is situated in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The college offers nationally certified training programmes that are unit standard based and SAQA approved. Qualified and competent staff is available to give relevant education and training in Educational Programmes which aim to enable learners to lead productive lives and make meaningful contributions to their community and to the Nation as a whole. Qualified moderators and assessors give training in line with Department of Higher Education’s directive to implement Outcomes Based Education through e-Learning methodology in order to service on-site learners as well as distance learners.
World class standards and well-utilised computer and practical rooms ensure that learners receive practical training, the curriculum develops the learner to his/her full potential and Business and Engineering theory is supplemented with practical training in line with standards from the industry. Gert Sibande TVET College provides learners and employers with the learning opportunities suited to their relevant needs. Gert Sibande College is a vibrant TVET institution offering education and tuition in SAQA affiliated courses. These courses focus on learners wanting to obtain Senior Certificates, Engineering Certificates, but also corporate training to specific needs, Learnerships with SETA’s, Partnerships and individual training according to individual needs. Our Expertise in Further Education will inspire you to commitment and will produce the highest reward for you.
The basic orientation of Gert Sibande TVET College is to be recognized for quality in education and training This will be achieved through:
- Consideration of context of the organization and aligning the Quality Management System with the strategic direction of Gert Sibande TVET College
- Satisfying customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
- Management of organization, along with employee-established quality objectives and defined responsibilities for their fulfilment
- Establishing, applying, maintaining and continual improvement of effectiveness of Quality Management System – ISO 9001:2015
- Continual enhancement of customers’ satisfaction
- Tracking and applying new technologies and educating employees
- Careful selection of suppliers
- Commitment to increase quality of training and education in order to exceed learner’s expectations
- Making continuous improvement a part of every day and every job
- Ensuring that our Policy and Procedure Manuals reflect what we actually do
- Understanding how our jobs fit into the overall flow of work at Gert Sibande TVET College
- Continuously upgrading the Quality Management System in all stages ranging from admission of learners through to graduation.
The framework for setting quality objectives is defined in the Quality Manual.
HRM is responsible for communicating the Quality Policy to all persons working for or on behalf of Gert Sibande TVET College and making it available to the public.
The G shape in the logo is the first letter of our District which was also named after Mr Richard Gert Sibande who was a leader among farm workers in the Eastern Transvaal. He was born in the Ermelo district in 1907 and received no formal schooling but taught himself to be literate in IsiZulu.
The meaning of the College logo colours:
- Green: Represents the nature of education
- Blue: Represents hope and a bright future
- Gold: Represents education as a mineral of the future
The College logo colours compliment the beacon of hope that the college represents in the lives of the people of Mpumalanga Province, specifically in the Gert Sibande Region.
The colour GREEN represents the nature of education as it symbolises growth and has a strong emotional correspondence with safety. The colour also represents the greener pastures that the college will lead you to.
Nothing could be more beautiful than the BLUE colour of the sky and the sea to represent hope and a bright future. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.
Last but definitely not least is the colour GOLD which speaks to the wealth of Mpumalanga Province from which the sun rises. Gold is a precious metal that is associated with prosperity, sparkle, love, compassion, courage and wisdom that you would be led to by Gert Sibande TVET College.
Through our values of performance, integrity, innovative and excellence, the college aims to deliver high quality teaching and training and achieve its dream of becoming the global developer of productive citizens for sustained economic growth.
