What is Procurement?
Procurement is the process of finding and agreeing to terms, and acquiring goods, services, or works from an external source, often via a tendering or competitive bidding process. Procurement generally involves making buying decisions under conditions of scarcity.
Gert Sibande TVET College basic principles in procurement is to be transparency, integrity, economy, openness, fairness, competition and accountability are some of the fundamental principles of public procurement.
- To evaluate and improve the current procurement practices to achieve better value for money and to ensure customer needs are met through effective strategic sourcing strategies and Service Level Agreements.
- To ensure good practices are identified and applied consistently throughout Gert Sibande Tvet College by means of policies and procedures aligned to best practice principals contained in legislation.
- To align procurement activities with other strategies adopted. This will include demand management to strategic sourcing strategies, contract management, supplier management and invoicing and payments.
- To ensure that current and future procurement activities are planned, monitored and reviewed effectively by means of effective resource performance management processes.
Encourage fair competition and the participation of high quality bidders through the implementation of effective bid, contract management processes and manage and assess risks at all stages.
